Why Health Clubs are a Good Idea

Before you shell out the money to join a gym, it's worth looking at why health clubs are a good idea. After all, you can work out at home for a lot less money, so why bother with the gym? It's true you can do without a gym. You can walk or run, buy some weights to use at home (if you have the space), run up and down the stairs – there's a lot of choices. However, once you understand why health clubs are a good idea, your decision will be much easier.

Why health clubs are a good idea:

Equipment:Quite simply, unless you have thousands of pounds, and a huge space available at home, you cannot compete with the sheer range of equipment at a good gym. From treadmills to steppers, resistance machines to free-weights, most gyms have literally hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of equipment, all waiting for you to come and use.

Expertise: When you join a gym, you don't just get the equipment, you also get the staff. Most gyms use trained professional staff these days (if you're not sure they're qualified, just ask). They are there to help you find a programme that's right for you, to enable you to get the most from your workouts.

Motivation: Joining a gym provides motivation on several levels. Firstly, the mere fact that you've paid to join can encourage you to go. Secondly, having a group of like-minded people around you is inspiring and motivating. Finally, there will be instructors and trainers at a gym to encourage you and be sure you are making progress.

When you add it all up it becomes clear that getting out of the house and heading to a custom designed gym has a lot going for it.
